Harry's Journey

Journey: Kinsale
Distance: 1M / 1.6KM
Total Distance: 75.94M / 122.20KM

A ‘slight’ change of plan today as Harry took to the streets of Kinsale early this morning in making his TV debut! Paul Byrne and the crew from Virgin Media landed into the town early doors to capture Harry cycling the streets of Kinsale. This was a nerving moment for myself and Martina, let alone Harry & Chloe, however seeing them both on national television this evening is testament to their efforts over the past number of weeks and what they have both achieved in raising support and awareness for Shine, Sonas and the Rainbow Club and the incredible work they do for so many children with Autism.

Harry, Chloe along with Eoin Motherwell, Chairman of Shine, made the ‪12:30pm‬ and ‪17:30pm‬ news today and with their early excursions, can be forgiven for not completing a full 3KM. Whilst it’s safe to say there isn’t a career in TV for mam or dad, the kids did fantastic today and tonight, we couldn’t be prouder of them both. For Harry, this experience has demonstrated that whilst Autism lives with you, it doesn’t define you and that is certainly the case with our little boy.

Our sincere thanks to Siobhan, Eoin, Ruairi and of course Paul Byrne for helping with today’s effort. As the campaign draws to a close, it’s a fitting way to begin to bring the curtain down on what has been an overwhelming and life-changing experience for us as a family and one with memories we will never forget.

To the people of Kinsale & the wider community, please come out and support Harry this Saturday at 11:30am on Pearse Street as he completes the final leg of this amazing journey finishing outside the Blue Haven Hotel with so many of his friends and family.
