An incredible turnout this morning in West Cork as Harry took to the streets of Clonakilty and was joined by a number of kids and cyclists around the town. A massive thank you to Scally’s (SuperValu) of Clonakilty, who presented Harry with a €1,000 cheque before this morning’s cycle. Scally’s play a huge part in raising awareness of Autism around West Cork and is Ireland’s first Autism friendly SuperValu. Their contribution towards both the campaign and promotion of Autism awareness in West Cork is to be admired and we are so thankful to Catriona, Eugene & son Eoghan for their kind and generous donation.
Harry was guest of honour for today’s cycle in Clonakilty and was presented with a t-shirt by the Mayor of Clonakilty, Padraig O’ Reilly, before being joined on the trip by Christopher O’ Sullivan (TD), Eoin Blackwell, Allison Roberts and the Bike Circus team, with approximately 60-70 cyclists taking the road.
The cycle took Harry through the streets of Clonakilty where he received huge support from the town and in particular in Astna square as the kids cycled through the town. The cycle finished up at the famous Railway Village and after a few kind words, Harry went in to relax and see all of his favour trains before finishing up with an ice-cream. It was truly as amazing experience.
Our sincere thanks to the people of Clonakilty for welcoming us down today and a special mention once again to Scally’s (SuperValu) of Clonakilty for their generosity and support towards Harry and the campaign. Thanks to all the organisers, Christopher, Eoin, the Gardai and the Bike Circus team for helping with today’s arrangements. A final thank you to the Rapp family for feeding Harry & family before heading back to Kinsale.
Tomorrow Harry will cycle pitch-to-pitch, starting at Dunderrow GAA pitch before cycling to Kinsale GAA pitch. As a family, the GAA and in particular Kinsale GAA have been a huge part of our lives, so it is only fitting to include Kinsale GAA in one of our cycles. Weather permitting, Harry hopes to arrive at the Kinsale GAA field at approximately 12:00pm and will finish up by cycling a lap of the field before meeting with the kids for a picture.
A sincere thank you to everybody for your continued support - we are blown away by people’s generosity from around Kinsale town and the wider community. A huge part of this process is to help raise as much awareness for children with Autism and it has been embraced by so many people around the town.
