Harry's Journey

Journey: Scoil Naomh Eltin (Kinsale) -> Kinsale Firestation (Kinsale)
Distance: 2.62M / 4.22KM
Total Distance:34.03M / 51.33KM

Today’s cycle was very much a touch of the old and new as Harry got to meet his old bus driver, Paddy, whilst starting today’s cycle from his new school in September, Scoil Naomh Eltin. Paddy has been a big part of Harry’s routine for the past 2years, escorting Harry to/from Carrigaline daily via Minane Bridge, Fountaintown and Crosshaven. Harry and Paddy have occupied each other’s time approx. 2.5 hours each day in commuting to and from Carrigaline, so it was lovely to involve Paddy in today’s cycle and not only that but to bring the Sonas bus en-route.

Harry will attend the special unit in Scoil Naomh Eltin this September and with Susan O’ Hanrahan as school principal, we know Harry is in a very good place. As a family, we have got to know Susan and the staff at the school, and having been in attendance at open nights over the past number of years, we see the great work that goes on there. We know Harry will be very happy in Scoil Naomh Eltin and whilst he will miss his daily spins with Paddy, he will no doubt see him from time to time in Kinsale.

For today’s cycle, Paddy and the Sonas bus provided an escort for Harry and Chloe, where we left Scoil Naomh Eltin shortly after 10am. Harry cycled down to the river before heading back along into Kinsale and finishing up at the Fire Station. Harry hopped off the bike and straight onto the bus where Paddy very kindly offered to give Harry one last spin on the bus home to Ringcurran. We are so pleased that Paddy was involved in today and thank him sincerely for the company and support he has provided to Harry during his time in Sonas.

Tomorrow Harry will be heading to Mahon, where he will cycle from the Rainbow Club down to Blackrock Marina and will be accompanied by children from the club and the local Gardai. On Sunday we will see Harry cycle between two of his favour spots, Ballinspittle Playground and Garretstown Beach where he will again be escorted by the local Gardai. We really appreciate everybody’s support for Harry and request you to kindly continue to support him and the campaign for the remaining 3 weeks.
