Final Day

Harry's Journey
Such has been the exhilaration from Saturday last, I am only getting an opportunity to summarise Harry’s last cycle across Kinsale and an ending befitting to the campaign as the town came out in droves to congratulate Harry on his achievement.

Harry’s last cycle took him from the Dock (Castlepark) to the Blue Haven Hotel (Kinsale), where he was accompanied by drones, fire trucks, garda cars, ambulances, in addition to children that took part at various points of the campaign and who crossed the finish line with Harry at the Blue Haven Hotel.

Coincidentally, the fire service were called to a fire at the Dock, just prior to the start time and instead of Harry receiving an escort from a fire truck, he was escorted into Kinsale by the full fire service team, which made both his day and this journey complete.

Once the fire had been put to bed, we left the Dock and accompanied by the Tri-Club, cycled into Kinsale where Harry was joined by neighbours, cousins & friends for the final leg of the journey. Never was an ending more befitting when Harry crossed the line at the Blue Haven Hotel alongside one of his best pals Charlie, who has been on the very same early intervention journey over the past few years as Harry.

A massive thank you to Ciaran Fitzgerald & the staff at the Blue Haven Hotel for kindly hosting Harry & friends for some food & drinks after the cycle. They have been hugely supportive of the campaign and we wish to sincerely thank them for their kindness, support & generosity.

I would also like to thank the Tri Club and in particular Phillip & Siobhan for their support across the campaign and in particular for the final few days. A huge thank you to young Ruairi Devlin for his drone footage & excellent compilation of the final cycle. To all the Fire Service, Gardai, Red Cross, volunteers, marshalls and everybody across the town & beyond that came out to support Harry for his final trek, a massive thank you to you all!!!

There is no better way to summarise the success and support this campaign has garnered than to wake up last Monday morning and see Harry headline the front page of the Irish Examiner. It has been a truly amazing experience for us as a family filled with memories we will never forget. We would like to sincerely thank each and everyone of you for your kindness, support & generosity across these last few weeks. The experience has more than surpassed expectations and has equally challenged Harry on so many levels, each of which he has overcome. He has helped bring towns and communities together across Cork and in doing so, has raised key funding, support & awareness for children with Autism.

As parents, we couldn’t be more proud of him and his achievements.

Kind regards,

Martina, Ricky, Harry & Chloe xxx
