Journey: Rainbow Club (Mahon) -> Blackrock Castle
Distance: 2.34M / 3.77KM
Total Distance:36.37M / 58.53KM
Today was Harry’s first trip to Cork, where he set out from the Rainbow Club, one of the key beneficiaries from this campaign. The club was setup by Karen & Jon O’Mahony back in 2015 and since then they have grown significantly in providing invaluable support and services to hundreds of children around Cork that are on the Autism spectrum.
Harry was flagged by children from the Rainbow Club today and was delighted when one of his best friends Charlie, who attended Sonas with Harry also took part. A special kudos to Laoise Ryder, one of Harry’s friends from Kanturk, who has only recently started to cycle (without stabilisers) and very kindly made the journey up to join the kids on the cycle down to Blackrock Castle. There was also plenty support today with some of mam’s work colleagues from Aer Lingus, who were also in attendance.
The kids left the club at 2.00 pm and were once again escorted by the local Gardai. There was fierce excitement cycling through the streets of Mahon and Blackrock with the squad car siren going off. The kids arrived at the castle for a quick break, before taking a cycle along the Blackrock-Mahon walkway in order to ensure Harry hit the 3km mark.
Harry was delighted with today’s cycle, whilst Charlie called it the best day ever cycling along the streets behind the Garda car.
Our sincere thanks to Conor & the Gardai for today’s support. To Karen, Jon & team from the Rainbow Club who provided great company for all the gang today. Days like this really make this fundraiser worthwhile and we are so grateful and thankful to people for their continued support.
